Thank you for volunteering!  There are 4 steps to complete for a volunteer.  Please contact Volunteer Coordinator if you have questions.  We have a new registration and learning management system so it is a learning curve for everyone.

1.      Register as a volunteer on www.ayso121.org.  Click on the link in the upper right-hand corner that says “Register Now” or if you have a player registered "Login" with your username. It will take you to a registration application page. Complete only the questions with a red asterisk.  Once you submit the registration information this will automatically start the process for your background check.  This needs to be done for ALL Volunteers EVERY year.  You will then receive an email from STERLING VOLUNTEERS, make sure to look for it in your spam folder as well.  You need to use this email to complete the background check process.  Region 121 will pay the $25 background check fee.

2.     If you are a first-time volunteer, you will need to take the Safe Haven safety course online.

a. Go to www.ayso121.org and login using the button in the upper right corner.
b. Click on the “Volunteer” tab in the left column. A new page will load.
c. Click on the “AYSOU” button. A new page will load.
d. Click on the “Training Library” tab in the left column. A new page will load.
e. Click on “View Courses” in the “Safe Haven” category picture. A new page will load.
f. Click on “ENROLL” in the “AYSO’s Safe Haven 2022 (No Audio)” course picture.
g. Watch the Safe Haven course videos and take the test.  SAVE your test certificate (pdf is fine).

3.     If you are a first-time referee you will need to take the Concussion safety course online.

            b. Click on the “Volunteer” tab in the left column. A new page will load.
            c. Click on the “AYSOU” button. A new page will load.
            d. Click on the “Training Library” tab in the left column. A new page will load.

            f. Click on “ENROLL” in the “CDC Concussion Awareness -Online” course picture.
            g. Watch the Concussion course video and take the test.  SAVE your test certificate.

4.     All adult volunteers are required to be fingerprinted. This is a one-time requirement. The fingerprinting must be done using the Live Scan process. To help streamline the process, AYSO has partnered with ApplicantServices.com. Through this process, the cost has been reduced to $20 – $25 per volunteer based on the process you use. If you are fingerprinted at a live AYSO event the cost is $20 and it is $25 at a Live Scan Service Center. Please understand that this specific process has been negotiated specifically for AYSO, so you will need to register via the link provided below to receive this cost discount and to ensure the information is sent to AYSO directly from the California Department of Justice. Click on the following link to print out your Live Scan fingerprinting form:

Volunteer Points

Volunteer Points

Fall 2024 volunteer points overview and information.

AYSO is powered by volunteers. Volunteer points are used to encourage volunteers to participate during the season. The main part of volunteer points is to expand our pool of referees in AYSO Simi and ensure our all-volunteer league continues to run smoothly. We are also developing a Core of volunteers as dedicated field assistants, and to help with tasks outside of the team requirement of setting up and tearing down the field.

Additionally, our 10U and 12U teams will be assigned one additional game approximately just one time per season to play with our VIP (kids and adults with special needs) teams. This will be at the Foundation Fields.

Volunteer Point Breakdown

Each team is given an equal opportunity to earn all 12 points. The points are clearly grouped, and each grouping of points can ONLY be earned in that capacity.

10 Referee points
  2 Field Day points
12 total points

Referee Points

Referee points may be earned by a referee associated with your team. You may have as many referees as you can recruit! They must be AYSO certified and do all safety training and register as a volunteer. You may earn one (1) point per game refereed. Coaches may not referee their own games. All referees must check in with the tent volunteers/board members prior to their game. Games are available for referee sign ups, if you sign up for a game, please be committed to your time slot. If you need to drop or change your time slot, please reach out to referee staff ASAP, repeated no-shows for referees WILL result in NEGATIVE points. If your U12 player would like to referee, we love youth volunteers, and they can referee for U10 games! (MAX 10 Points).

Field Day Points

Field day points may be earned only on field day by adults associated with your team. Each adult that comes to field day may be counted for one team only. If 90% or more of your team comes, you will receive a bonus point for field day! Volunteers need to check in with a board member with the player’s name and division (or birth year) to get your points. Once volunteers check in, they will be assigned a group to do various things needed to prepare for the season. (MAX 2 Points).
